Recycle Cell Phones to Help Victims of
Domestic Violence
 |
By donating your old
cell phone to Artemis Center, you can save a life. With the
help of Verizon’s HopeLine program, victims of domestic
violence receive refurbished cell phones to be used as 911
emergency phones. Phone chargers and accessories are not
required. These phones are critical to the safety of
Artemis Center’s clients. Used cell phones can be dropped
off at Artemis Center Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. For more information, call (937)461-5091. |
Nancy
Grigsby Survivor Fund
The Board of Directors and staff of the Artemis Center for Alternatives
to Domestic Violence has established the Nancy Grigsby Survivor
Fund. The fund has been established through Fifth Third Bank and
the community is invited to donate at any area Fifth Third location.
The fund honors Nancy Grigsby, who left Artemis Center after 16
years of service. Grigsby is co-founder of Artemis Center, and served
as co-director from 1985 to 1990 and Executive Director from 1990
to 2001. The fund honors Grigsby's dedication to the safety of domestic
violence victims in this community.
The purpose of the fund
is to enhance the safety of domestic violence victims and their
children. The assistance provided will include food, shelter, and
transportation, such as new locks or other home security needs,
deposit or rent for shelter, assistance with utilities, or groceries
- critical assistance for many domestic violence victims trying
to leave an abusive situation with few resources. While Artemis
Center receives program funding support from a number of government
and private sources, few resources are available to assist with
the basics of food, shelter, or transportation. Future plans for
the fund include expanding the assistance to long-term needs such
as education, home down payment, or emergency medical needs.
Call 461-5091 to learn
more about the fund. You can donate by sending your contribution
