Artemis Center Warns Community to be Wary of Door-to-Door Fundraisers
July 29, 2010—Recently, Artemis Center has received calls regarding suspicious individuals collecting donations for local domestic violence victims.
Individuals have been going to door-to-door in Dayton neighborhoods and standing out front of businesses collecting donations on behalf of “the local domestic violence agency” or specifically Artemis Center. Artemis Center has not given consent to these individuals to collect donations nor has it received any funds from these solicitations. These individuals are profiting from this scam. They do not represent agency staff or volunteers.
Artemis Center has been serving local victims of domestic violence for 25 years. As a well-established, responsible non-profit agency, Artemis Center does not and will not solicit funds in this manner.
“We will never go door-to-door to collect donations for our organization. Nor will we stand out in front of local businesses approaching customers for donations,” says Patti Schwarztrauber, executive director at Artemis Center, “These practices are not consistent with our fundraising ethics.”
If you suspect an individual in your area is improperly collecting donations, please alert Artemis Center immediately by calling (937) 461-5091. Make sure to report the date and location where the solicitation took place. To make a proper contribution to Artemis Center, it is best to directly mail a check, donate online or call (937) 461-5091.
