Volunteer Positions
Position: Clerical/Receptionist
Description: Answer phones, screen visitors, make copies,
file, assist with mailings, input data, perform other general office
duties.
Job Requires: Friendly, courteous
person, office and typing experience helpful.
Days/Times Needed: Mondays, Wednesdays
and Thursdays any time between 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Shifts can be two
or three hours, depending upon the volunteer’s availability.)
Position: Cell Phone Drive Organizer
Description: Organize a used cell phone drive to benefit
victims of domestic violence. Cell phones can save lives when used
by victims to call 911 in emergencies. Volunteers first secure
permission from their employers, schools/universities, faith
communities or other organizations to conduct cell phone drives at
their locations. Volunteers place boxes and signs for cell phone
collection at locations specified by employer, school, faith
community or other group. Volunteers collect all donations and drop
off cell phones and chargers at Artemis Center Mondays through
Fridays, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PLEASE NOTE:
To protect the privacy of the donors, all personal information
should be erased from the phones and SIM cards removed before
the phones are donated to Artemis Center!
Days/Times Needed: Drive can be
organized at convenience of volunteer. Cell phones and chargers can
be dropped off at Artemis Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Requires: Organizational and
communication skills, follow through, valid driver’s license,
ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Position: Diaper Drive Organizer
Description: Organize a drive to collect disposable diapers
from individuals, community groups and religious organizations for
Artemis clients.
Days/Times Needed: When volunteer is
available.
Job Requires: Self-starter with
excellent communication and organizational skills. Willingness to
contact various community groups and build support for the Diaper
Drive.
Position: Food Pantry
Description: Maintain the food pantry for Artemis clients.
Accept donations, organize shelves.
Days/Times Needed: Weekdays, anytime 9
a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Requires: Excellent organizational
skills and ability to work independently.
Position:
Information Technology Assistant(s)
Description: Volunteer or volunteers will serve in advisory
capacity on information technology issues and may perform hands-on
services such as website redesign and updates.
Days/Times needed: Any weekday, 8 a.m.
to 8 p.m.
Job Requires: Prefer volunteer or
volunteers with education and professional experience in any of the
following areas: computer hardware, software, web design and
management of large databases.
Position:
Holiday Gift Distribution Organizer
Description: Organize distribution of holidays gifts donated
for Artemis clients and their children. Accept, sort and organize
donations.
Days/Times Needed: Late November, first
three weeks in December, weekdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Requires: Excellent organizational
and communication skills, attention to detail, flexibility, follow
through, patience. Perfect as a group project for a company,
service club or religious organization.
Position:
Holiday Gift Distribution Sponsor
Description: Collect holiday gifts for a domestic violence
victim and her children.
Days/Times Needed: Late November and
early December.
Job Requires: A caring heart and a
willingness to brighten the holidays for others. Sponsorship can be
undertaken by individuals, families, businesses, service clubs or
religious organizations.
Position:
Library Assistant
Description: Inventory Artemis library, catalog materials,
create a system for filing, adding and retrieving information,
maintain library collection.
Days/Times Needed: Weekdays preferred,
anytime 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Requires: Maturity, patience,
attention to detail, organizational skills. Perfect job for retired
librarian.
Position: Literature Distribution
Description: Copy, fold and distribute Artemis literature to
community organizations such as hospitals, women’s health centers,
the Job Center, ob/gyn offices, universities, etc. Contact these
locations, restock literature, as needed. Maintain database of
literature distribution locations.
Job Requires: Self-starter with
organizational and computer skills, reliable transportation.
Days/Times Needed: Weekdays, generally
anytime 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Position: Meet and Greet
the Public.
Description: Represent Artemis Center by providing
information about domestic violence and Artemis Center at health
fairs, festivals and other community events.
Days/Times Needed: Days, evenings and
weekends.
Job Requires: Outgoing personality,
flexible schedule. Volunteer must successfully complete domestic
violence training.
